With the approaching Hurricane Season of 2018, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) wished to further engage with their audience by providing useful information and tips on natural disasters and emergency preparedness.
With careful content creation, utilising the archives and resources of the agency, we embarked on a tactical social media campaign, promoting a greater national awareness for disaster preparedness and management. These efforts provide value to the Jamaican people by promoting safer practices, in an effort to reducing the loss of life and property. Since the start of the campaign, we have seen a constant growth in engagement.
ODPEM has recorded a monthly reach of 185,229 people with 305,399 impressions under our management. Subsequent to implementing a new page like ad strategy at the beginning of October, it’s audience now stands at 7,335 persons with an increase of 421 new fans. Engagement rates have also increased by an outstanding 103% with a 305% increase in comments. Not only do these numbers show the steady growth of the ODPEM online presence, but we have also seen a distinct reception and appreciation from the audience, for the information given.
